Jail Ministry

The WIT Jail Ministry is an outreach program designed to share the Good News of Jesus Christ to women who are incarcerated. Secondly, we help them grow as new disciples of Jesus Christ by offering a wide range of spiritual opportunities both before and after their release.  Finally, it is our goal to help them become responsible citizens of our community, leading an independent life following biblical principles in their own home while remaining an active member in a church family.

What is it Really Like to Serve in Jail?

One can only imagine what it would be like to spend several hours locked up in the jail.  Following is an excerpt from Ann's journal as she writes about a typical night.

Dear Prayer Warriors,

Your prayers were definitely heard and answered!  Thirty-two women attended, 21 unsaved.  At the invitation, all 21 came forward, accepted Jesus Christ as their personal Savior and the Lord of their lives.  The others who were Christians, all rededicated themselves to a more obedient walk with the Lord.  When you have time to read further, I will give some of the details.

Ministry Opens Doors for Troubled Women

From www.Ocala.com "Spontaneous laughter, applause and shouts of 'That's right!' and 'Amen!' erupted during a church service for female inmates at the Marion County Jail on a recent Sunday.

Facilitated by Women in Touch, an outreach of First Baptist Church of Belleview, the church service is just one aspect of a ministry that is opening doors for women in transition from jail and those seeking release from addiction.
